Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Rheindorf, seit 1975 Stadtteil von Leverkusen; 1930 nach Opladen eingemeindet: „Geteilt in Rot und Blau, oben ein wachsender, steigender, bekrönter silberner (weißer) doppelschwänziger Löwe; unten ein silberner (weißer) zweiblättriger Ast mit einer Birne.“ Der obere Teil des Wappens steht für die frühere Zugehörigkeit zum Herzogtum Berg. Der Birnenast symbolisiert den traditionellen Obstanbau in der Gemeinde. English: „Party per fess gules and azure, above a crowned, double-tailed, demi-lion rampant Argent and below a two-leaved branch with a pear, all Argent.“
The lion is the lion of the counts of Berg, who first acquired the area of the city in the 12th century. The lower part symbolises the traditonal fruit-growing in the municipality. |
