Deutsch: Das 1905 auf Vorschlag des Generallandesarchivs von der Gemeinde angenommene Wappen verbindet mit dem badischen Schrägbalken ein Symbol der früheren Herrschaftszugehörigkeit mit einem bäuerlichen Zeichen, das seit Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts im Gemeindesiegel vertreten war. Schallbach gehörte zur Herrschaft Rötteln, die 1315 an die Markgrafen von Hachberg-Sausenberg und 1503 im Erbgang an die Markgrafen von Baden fiel. Im 18. Jahrhundert nannte der Landvogt Ernst Friedrich von Leutrum als Dorfzeichen Schallbachs ein Pflugeisen. Warum im ältesten Siegelbeleg der Gemeinde von 1811 dann neben dem Herzschild des badischen Staatswappens von 1807 als weiteres Bild ein Hufeisen aufgenommen wurde, ist nicht bekannt. Als bäuerliches Emblem hat es für die auch heute noch landwirtschaftlich geprägte Gemeinde weiterhin Aussagekraft. |
