Inscriptions: Lemma: „Ni mesme la mort.“ (English translation: „Not even death.“ – „Nec platani lethum vitem, nec tollet amorem / Nostrum, quae tollit caetera, summa dies.“ (English translation: „Neither the death of the plane tree will eliminate the vine, nor will the Last Day, which eliminates everything, eleminate our love.“) – Epigramm: „La Vigne au platanier fidellement conjointe, / Encores qu’il soit mort, ne l’abandonne pas. / Beau creon des esprits, qui d’une egalle pointe / Blessez ne cedent point leurs Amours au trespas: / Vous le tesmoignez bien, dames trop amoureuses, / Qu’on ne peut arracher des tombes tenebreuses.“ („The wine, faithfully joined to the plane tree, does not leave it even when it is dead.
