| Description | It was indeed fascinating to see a live steam locomotive in active service in India after nearly 25 years. We couldn't get enough of the sight and the sound, and the smell, and really had to coax and cajole our driver to slow down and keep pace with the engine and not race ahead. My brother had other ideas: he had his car driver speed on ahead and stop at the train station to take a video of the arrival at the station. The locomotive here is a Sharp Stewart built 0-4-0ST number 782 and christened 'Mountaineer'. How I wished I could be that lucky train driver! (engineer) (May 2009) |
