Summary
editDescriptionDakota Hogback from US 287 w-Lytle Formation.jpg |
English: West face of the Dakota Hogback, viewed from U.S. Route 287. The crest is about 400 feet above the road. The nearest outcrop on the right is Lytle Formation, which is assigned to the "Dakota Group" in Colorado, but underlies the lower-Cretaceous Cheyenne Sandstone formation in extreme northeastern Kansas.[1] The highest outcrop is South Platte Formation, which correlates to Dakota Formation classifications outside of Colorado.
