Description

The Dakota Sandstone and its correlatives are a widespread package of sandy siliciclastics deposited in the ancient Western Interior Seaway of North America. The unit dates to the late Early Cretaceous and early Late Cretaceous

The first ridge in the photo is an outcrop of structurally tilted Dakota Sandstone in Dinosaur National Monument, Utah. The layers are dipping toward the viewer.
