Summary edit

Description

Flooding from Tropical Storm Irene caused widespread damage in Vermont’s Mad River Valley. To identify where growth can occur safely, communities will need information about where flooding has occurred in the past and, to the extent possible, projections for future flooding that account for climate change. Communities can use our Flood Resilience Checklist to reduce their vulnerability to floods: plan for and encourage new development in safer areas.
