| Description |
English: Damaged bridge over the Rye. The aptly named "Shaken Bridge" a few days after flash flooding of 19th June 2005.
The bridge was closed for Months as the arch on the low side was badly damaged. The road links Hawnby with the B1257 Stokesley to Helmsley. Fortunately an alternative route via Laskill to the North was soon cleared after less serious clear-up work was completed. edit Autumn 2006: The original bridge has needed total demolition and is being rebuilt. There's a temporary metal bridge just upstream of the stone one. |
