Summary
editDescriptionDarren - geograph.org.uk - 355917.jpg |
English: Darren A distant view (from Crickhowell Bridge) of the cliff known as Darren which sits proudly above the town of Crickhowell/Crug Hywel. The cliff brings the broad upper part of south-west ridge of Pen Cerrig-calch to an abrupt halt. It was probably formed as a result of a major land-slip sometime towards the end of the last ice age when a number of slopes which had been oversteepened by the passage of glacier ice - in this case the Usk Valley glacier - failed catastrophically. the run-out of the landslip can be traced in the rough ground below the cliff formed in old Red Sandstone rocks. |
