Nederlands: Luchtopname. De boerderij van de familie Poels waar meer dan 300 Amerikaanse en Britse piloten enige dagen verbleven bij hun terugkeer naar Engeland. De opname is gemaakt door een Amerikaans vliegtuig ter voorbereiding van het afwerpen van een krans als dank voor de getoonde moed. Het kruis op de grond geeft de plaats aan waar het oorspronkelijke, en door de Duitsers verwoeste, kruisbeeld heeft gestaan en waar nu een nieuwe is opgericht.
English: Aerial view of the Poels family farm where more than 300 Allied airmen stayed for several days on their return to England. The shot was taken by a US American plane in preparation for the dropping of a wreath in thanks for the bravery shown. The cross on the ground indicates the spot where the original crucifix, destroyed by the Germans, stood and where a new one has now been erected.
Deutsch: Luftaufnahme des Bauernhofs der Familie Poels, auf dem mehr als 300 alliierte Piloten bei ihrer Rückkehr nach England mehrere Tage verbrachten. Die Aufnahme wurde von einem US-amerikanischen Flugzeug in Vorbereitung auf die Kranzniederlegung zum Dank für die gezeigte Tapferkeit gemacht. Das Kreuz auf dem Boden zeigt die Stelle an, an der das ursprüngliche, von den Deutschen zerstörte Kruzifix stand und an der jetzt ein neues errichtet wurde. |
