Nederlands: De overlieden van het Amsterdamse goud- en zilversmidsgilde door Juriaen Pool (1701). Het groepsportret was in bezit van de Duits-Joodse kunsthandelaar en verzamelaar Max Stern, die zijn collectie onder dwang van de nazi’s tegen bodemprijzen moest afstaan. Het schilderij kwam daarna in een Duits casino terecht waar het als roofkunst werd getraceerd door medewerkers van het Max Stern Art Restitution Project. Deze Canadese stichting zet zich in voor de teruggave van de kunstcollectie van Stern. In 2011 kon dit schilderij worden gerestitueerd aan de rechtmatige erfgenamen.
Het Belasting & Douane Museum kocht het gehavende schilderij en liet het restaureren. Zowel aankoop als restauratie werden mogelijk gemaakt door de Vrienden van het museum. Barbara Susijn was verantwoordelijk voor de restauratie. Vanaf 19 juni 2014 heeft het schilderij een plaats in de vaste opstelling van het museum, waar het laat zien hoe het werk van goud- en zilversmid, de keurmeester en de belastingheffer verbonden is. |
