Summary
editDescriptionDecoy Pond - geograph.org.uk - 1255078.jpg |
English: Decoy Pond Originally constructed in the 16th by the owners of nearby New Place as one of a series of fish ponds in the 16th century. During the 18th they were extended to become a series of decoy ponds for shooting wildfowl. There are five marked on Yeakell & Gardner's map of 1778 though only three seem to be in existence today. This is the second one viewed from the footpath from Decoy Cottage and looking down towards the northern shore from the point where a stream leaves the pond and heads towards Black Ditch. |
