English: Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen and Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood (left) congratulate midshipman Gary Taylor at the Seventy-Fourth commencement exercises at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y., on June 21, 2010. As one of the five U.S. service academies, the USMMA is responsible for training midshipmen for service in the Merchant Marines, the maritime industries or the other five branches of the military, both at sea and ashore.
