Nearly 140 vehicles are being unloaded from the Maritime Prepositioning Force ship for use in exercise Tandem Thrust '97. Tandem Thrust is a combined military training exercise involving 28,000 personnel, 252 aircraft and 43 ships, and is designed to train U.S. and Australian staffs in crisis action planning and contingency response operations. Quiroz is attached to the U.S. Marine Corps 3rd Support Battalion. |
