editDescriptionDemolition of the von Klueber House - geograph.org.uk - 1439385.jpg |
English: Demolition of the von Klueber House This house dating from 1913 formed part of the Solar Physics Observatory. It was named after Harald von Klueber (1901-1978) formerly Assistant Director of the Solar Physics Observatory, who lived there from 1949 to 1965. Prior to this it had been home to W.H. Manning(1883-1952) Assistant at Solar Physics Observatory 1913-46. Manning was married to the Labour M.P. and teachers union leader, Dame Leah Manning (who lived 1886-1977). They lived in this S.P.O. house from when it was new in 1913 (see L. Manning 'A Life for Education' London, 1970). This part of the Solar Physics Observatory is being demolished to provide room for a new astrophysics building. |
