Description Dermatocarpon luridum (Dill. ex With.) J.R. Laundon, 1984 [Syn. Dermatocarpon fluviatile (Weber) Th. Fr., 1860] (photograph of a herbarium specimen taken through a dissecting microscope (x25) showing a thallus with overlapping lobes) Growing on a thin layer of soil over Gettysburg Red Shale in bed of small woodland stream along Route 97, 0.5 mile E of Bridgeport, Carroll County, Maryland, USA; collected and identified by Elmer G. Worthley (No. L-573, 17 Apr 1966); specimen is now in the Lichen Herbarium of the New York Botanical Garden.
