Description
English: Derwent Mouth Lock No 1 near Shardlow, Derbyshire This wide lock allows boats from the Trent and Mersey Canal onto the River Trent. This end of the canal was opened in 1770, engineered by James Brindley, who died two years later, before the whole 93.5 miles canal was complete.
