Detail of pale white dove feather - horizontal rhachis and gap between barbs - DSG2033-1 - 2021-04-04 (focus stack, HiRes)

Summary

edit
Description
English: Midsection of a pale white dove feather. The rhachis (shaft) is arranged horizontally with closely intertwined barbs above and below. As found, one row of barbs remained disconnected, forming a gap. A series of images was processed as a HiRes focus stack that resolves every single barbule across the image.

NOTE: This image is a focus stacked image of "Midsection of a pale white dove feather" consisting of 32 images that were merged using Zerene Stacker Version 1.04 Build T2022-04-21-0715 (licensed). As a result, this image underwent digital manipulation which may have included blending, blurring, cloning, and colour and perspective adjustments. As a result of these adjustments, the image content may be slightly different than reality at the points where the images were combined. This manipulation is often required due to lens, perspective, and parallax distortions.
