Summary edit

Description
English: Notice the blue paint, as used by the ancients, still visible over the reliefs. As the reliefs and the chaityas, viharas in Ajanta were carved out in Basalt, highly intricate details could not be achieved due to the properties of the stone. The basic shapes would be plastered over with mud and clay and painted, to bring out the greater details required by the artisans.
