Description

Here is an example of how to put religion to good use. Devara Kaadu are sacred forests found in Coorg, with a small sanctum and its deity as the protector. It is considered sacrilegious, a taboo to fell trees or disturb the animals here. They act as small safe bio havens.

Does it really work? There is wide-spread illegal logging and powerful lobbies at work. Without the protection of deities, these forests would have been plundered long ago.
