English: Aluminum devotional medal of Our Lady of Sorrows found in the Cathedral of Varniai. The legend reads: "With your intercession [I] will persist to the end". The reverse depicted a cross with an anchor and a legend that read "For the commemoration of the temperance movement started in 1858". The medal was created in 1858 for people who signed up for the temperance movement spearheaded by bishop Motiejus Valančius. The first medals were made of bronze or brass. Aluminum medals first appeared in 1889.
Lietuvių: Blaivybės medalikėkis rastas Varnių katedroje, pagamintas iš aliuminio. Medalikėlio averse pavaizduota Sopulingoji Dievo Motina kalaviju perverta širdimi, jos rankos priglaustos prie krūtinės, galvą supa 14 žvaigždučių vainikas, perskirtas kryželiu. Aplinkui įspausta legenda: „Par tawa susztarima isztutesma iki gala“. |
