English: The picture shows the digging of a snow pit on the moraine of the Aldegonda glacier (Svalbard). The pit is dug during snow surveys in the watersheds of local rivers (including glaciers) to determine the density and stratification of the snow cover. Snow measurements are carried out within the framework of hydrological studies of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "AARI" in the Svalbard archipelago.

Шурф выкапывается во время снегомерных съемок на водосборах местных рек (в том числе и на ледниках) для определения плотности и стратификации снежного покрова.
