English: Ripening, edible, orange fruit of a bushveld bluebush (D. l. subsp. guerkei) during mid February (late summer) in the Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve, where all of this fairly numerous plant species fruit at the same time. Each fruit contains a few large, smooth and dark seeds in symmetrical configuration. Though some plants bear orange fruit locally, while the fruit of others mature to red, the two types appear to belong to the same subspecies, judging by their leaf venation. The plants in general appear to be more numerous in the upper, more rocky section of the reserve, than the lower-lying floodplain. Those with orange fruit however, locally occur at slightly lower elevation.
