Description
English: During the WW2 many students escaped their occupied country and joined the Czechoslovak army abroad. Some of them completed their studies at British universities. The University of Oxford was empowered by the Czechoslovak government in exile to award their degrees in the names of the closed Czech universities. One of the students, Karel Macháček, whose diploma is shown in the picture, thus received a diploma from his alma mater Masaryk University of Brno in the name of Czechoslovakia in Oxford in 1943. Foto taken in the exhibition of the modern history of the Charles University in Prague.
