Summary edit
DescriptionDisused ferry slipway at Kyleakin. - geograph.org.uk - 903493.jpg |
English: Disused ferry slipway at Kyleakin. The slipway was the landing point for the ferry from Kyle of Lochalsh until the bridge (visible in the background) opened to traffic in 1995. The extortionate toll charge for the bridge was scrapped about 10 years later after a bitter campaign by locals who often refused to pay and ended up before the courts. The Scottish Parliament has now scrapped most toll charges after prolonged public pressure. |
