Title
English: Doctors' office in a tent after the fire, June 1889
Description
English: Before the Great Fire of 1889 burned through Seattle's business district, Dr. James Eagleson lived and worked in the Kenney Block, at the northeast corner of Front Street (now First Avenue) and Columbia Street. After the fire, Eagleson and fellow doctor Clarence Smith set up business in a canvas tent outside a home two blocks away, at Third Avenue and Columbia Street.

In this photo, taken shortly after the 1889 fire, Doctors Eagleson and Smith wait for patients in their makeshift office. The little blackboard tacked to the tent pole served as an appointment book.
