English: A string of five locomotives from the Works runs through Doncaster Station, watched by a bevy of Train-spotters. View southward from the main Down platform; ex-Great Northern ECML major junction. A Down express waits with a V2 2-6-2, while a fine cavalcade passes, headed by K3 2-6-0 No. 61824, followed by LMS-type Ivatt 2-6-0 No. 43099, Peppercorn A1 4-6-2 No. 60143 'Sir Walter Scott', K3 2-6-0 No. 61906 and O2 2-8-0 No. 63969. The scene epitomises the excitement of train-watching at places such as Doncaster in the 1950s - and this was a Summer Saturday with a bus strike in progress! |
