Description
English: The picture is a Greek Catholic icon depicting the scene of the Dormition of the Theotokos, that is the falling asleep or the death of Virgin Mary. The dormition is an important feast in the Eastern rite Christian churches. The icon was painted in the end of the 18th century as part of the iconostasis of the Greek Catholic Cathedral of Hajdúdorog, Hungary. This icon is placed on the first tier of the iconostasis, the so called Great Feasts tier. This icon is the sixth painting from the left.
Magyar: A kép a Theotokosz elszenderülését ábrázolja, vagyis Szűz Mária halálának jelenetét mutatja meg. Az Istenszülő elszenderülése elsősorban a keleti rítusú keresztény egyházaknál fontos ünnep. Az ikont a 18. század végén festették, a hajdúdorogi görög katolikus székesegyház ikonosztázára. Az ikont az ikonosztáz első sorában, az úgynevezett Ünnepi sorban találhatjuk. Ez az ikon a sorban balról a hatodik festmény.
