| Description |
English: A U.S. Navy Douglas A-1H Skyraider (BuNo 137610) of Attack Squadron 152 (VA-152) "Friendlies" and a Douglas A-4E Skyhawk from VA-163 "Saints" in flight over Vietnam in 1966. Both squadrons were assigned to Attack Carrier Air Wing 16 (CVW-16) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany (CVA-34) for a deployment to Vietnam beginning on 26 May 1966. The deployment ended with a desatrous fire in the hangar bay of Oriskany on 26 October 1966. The A-1H 137610 was lost with its pilot, Lt.jg. James Alvin Beene, because of a gyro failure in a thunderstorm, 20 km south of Hòn Mát island, North Vietnam, on 5 October 1966. |
