English: A U.S. Air Force Douglas A-1H Skyraider at Naval Air Station Quonset Point, Rhode Island (USA), in 1967. Quonset Point was home to the Quonset Point Naval Air Rework facility which overhauled 179 Skyraiders for the U.S. Air Force from 1967 to 1969. In the background are two U.S. Navy A-1H of Attack Squadron 152 (VA-152) "Friendlies". It flew the A-1 until February 1968. To the left is a Grumman S-2 Tracker. The A-1H 137512 in the background was struck off charge by the U.S. Navy on 7 August 1967. Afterwards it was transferred to the U.S. Air Force 6th Special Operations Squadron. After the 6th SOS was disbanded, the aircraft was transferred to the South Vietnamese Air Force and was written off on 8 July 1972. |
