Description
English: A U.S. Navy Douglas A-1J Skyraider (BuNo 142033) of Attack Squadron 145 (VA-145) "Swordsmen" aboard the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CVS-11). On the left is a Grumman E-1B Tracer (BuNo 147236) of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 121 (VAW-121), Det.11 "Griffins". Both squadrons were assigned to Attack Carrier Air Wing 10 (CVW-10) aboard the Intrepid for a deployment to Vietnam from 11 May to 10 December 1967.
The A-1J 142033 was later transferred to the U.S. Air Force and served with the 602nd Special Operations Squadron. It was shot down over Laos on 8 December 1968. The pilot was rescued.
