English: My late father-in-law’s name was Dr. James Wells Young, Jr. He was an Army serviceman in WWII who came home and became a renowned tennis coach (and head of the athletics department) at North Carolina Central- Durham. His story gives life to not only the African-American struggles of upward mobility via the economic system (even as a Buffalo Soldier) but also as a trailblazing tail of how to stay encouraged as an African-American even when all the chips are stacked against you. I believe the African-American and other minority youth of today would be able to not only relate, but be inspired to strive higher and work more diligently towards gaining economic success for themselves if they had more examples of the "average" Person reaching those same successes.
