Notes

Acquired as a self-portrait of the artist. The identification is plausible when compared with accepted portraits of 1649 and 1652.

This drawing was issued as a coloured facsimile by the British Museum in 'Reproductions of Drawings by Old Masters in the British Museum', Part III, Published by the Trustees, in 1893 where it was number IX and described there as 'Cornelis de Visscher, Portrait of the Artist.'
