Description |
English: Eugene Semple, former governor of Washington Territory, devised a plan in the early 1890s to build a canal between Elliott Bay and Lake Washington across the tideflats and through Beacon Hill. Material from the excavated waterway was to be used to fill the tideflats. Even though he found backing for his company, the Lake Washington Waterway Co., his projects were never completed.
