Summary
editDescriptionDrumnadrochit from Craigmonie - geograph.org.uk - 38408.jpg |
English: Drumnadrochit from Craigmonie. Looking east from Craigmonie with Loch Ness in the distance. Craigmonie is a rocky outcrop that is the site of an Iron Age fort and hiding place of the marauding Scandinavian Prince Monie and his sister, who briefly escaped the wrath of the local pictish tribesmen, before retreating up Glen Urquhart. The picts caught up with and slayed the Prince at Corrimony, also derived from his name. His sister integrated into the local community peacefully. Photo dedicated to my late brother, Ian. |
