Summary edit
DescriptionDrynewtlarvae.jpg |
Two Common Newt larvae just arisen from the water. Gills are gone, the tail has shrunk into a dry-land tail, making it almost impossible for the newt to swim. It cannot sustain very long in water. It will drown, if it doesn't get to “terra firma” quite quickly after plunging into water. Also it's light weight makes it difficult for it to penetrate the water surface after it's skin has dried in air. |
