DescriptionDublin train - No. 2 Platform - last day (geograph 3387954).jpg |
English: Dublin train - No. 2 Platform - last day Northern Ireland Railways 101-class No. 103 "Merlin" had the honour of bringing the last "Enterprise" into Great Victoria Street station - although the train operated only from Portadown due to a "security alert". Built by BREL and introduced to service in July 1970, the three 101-class diesel electric locomotives were not wholly successful. Displaced from front-line duties in 1981, 103 was withdrawn in 1989 and scrapped at Ballymena in June 1997. |
