Summary
editDescriptionDumbarton Foreshore - geograph.org.uk - 1777951.jpg |
English: Dumbarton Foreshore. There is a signposted "Dumbarton Foreshore" walk (see the map) from the southern end of Castle Road; it can be followed for quite a distance along the shore. Alternatively, for a shorter walk, it can be followed to Gruggies Burn (which is shown flowing past the railway station on the map); a path alongside the burn then leads to Castlegreen Street.
Beyond the tree at the centre of the photo is the area where Gruggies Burn, formed by the merging of Garshake Burn and Overtoun Burn, flows into the River Clyde. A rocky eminence, Dumbuck Quarry, can be seen to the right of the tree. The posts in the water are part of the remains of a timber pond; for the main discussion of these, see 1777947. |
