| Description |
English: Dumfries station, 1991. View northward, towards Mauchline, Kilmarnock and Glasgow: ex-G&SWR Carlisle Mauchline - Kilmarnock - Glasgow main line. Until 14/6/65 when the direct line (G&SW & Caledonian Joint) to Stranraer was closed Dumfries - Challoch Junction, Dumfries was also the focus of the main route through Galloway, also until 18/11/66 there was a line to Dumfries from Lockerbie. Therefore there had been a sizeable Locomotive Depot here - on the right in this view, and there were through lines in the centre. |
