Description
English: Dun Briste, Downpatrick Head This 50m high sea stack was part of the cliff until 1393. It now lies some 80m from the mainland. Legend claims that the separation was the result of Saint Patrick praying to God. The ogre, Geodruisge, lived where the stack now stands and was making life difficult for the saint. The rocks were formed in the lower carboniferous period (350 million years ago). for more see: - http://www.castlebar.ie/mayo_historical_and_archaeological_society/Downpatrick_Head_North_Mayo.shtml
