| Description |
English: Dunnottar Castle There has been a castle here from earliest times but the oldest remaining buildings date from the 15th century. It has played a significant and bloody part in history. Amongst much else the Scottish regalia were taken here for safe keeping and later spirited away to safety in nearby Kinneff Church prior to the castle surrendering to Cromwell. It also served as a prison for Covenanters. Even today not easy of access. |
