English: Bands of dust poured across the Red Sea in late November 2015. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard NASAs Aqua satellite captured this true-color image on November 25.
Severe weather, including high winds, was predicted to impact parts of the Middle East during the week of November 18 25, according to a report by Accuweather.com. Potentially violent thunderstorms were predicted to affect northern Saudi Arabia and Iraq early in the week, with the stormy weather moving towards southern Saudi Arabia later in the week. It is likely that gusting winds from the remnants of this system were driving the dust and sand from Saudi Arabia across the Red Sea towards Egypt (north) and the Sudan (south). |
