Description Polypodium glycyrrhiza—licorice fern. The common name comes from the licorice taste of the rhizomes. Often used in Native American and folk medicine. Found on trees and rocks usually along the coast from Monterey County north to Alaska and Kamchatka. Photographed at Regional Parks Botanic Garden located in Tilden Regional Park near Berkeley, CA,
