Description

La Estación Científica Antártica “Machu Picchu”- ECAMP recibió a los expedicionarios peruanos para el inicio de los labores de la campaña ANTAR XXIII que se viene realizando desde el 19 de enero y continuará hasta el 18 de febrero. Los 43 exploradores pertenecientes a diferentes instituciones públicas y privadas involucradas con las actividades de investigación científica, académica, de gestión ambiental y de apoyo logístico que lidera el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, trabajan con el objetivo de profundizar el aporte científico del Perú al conocimiento de la Antártida; actualizar los estudios técnicos de base para la formulación de proyectos orientados al fortalecimiento de la infraestructura antártica nacional; fortalecer la cooperación con otros Estados Parte del Tratado Antártico; y, contribuir a la difusión del valor de la Antártida como Reserva Natural para la Paz y la Ciencia.

Asimismo, los científicos del Instituto Geológico Minero y Metalúrgico (INGEMMET), realizan estudios para mejorar la infraestructura que tiene el Perú en la Antártida a fin de encontrar nuevas fuentes de agua que serán usadas en nuestra estación científica.
