On le qualifie en général, et trop rapidement, de symboliste mais son goût de l’étrange s’oppose au courant littéraire et artistique de son époque. Il est surtout connu pour ses surprenants cycles gravés comme le montre le fonds du musée, composé de 144 œuvres. Il réalise ainsi de 1878 à 1915 quatorze suites à l'eau-forte, qui sont ses œuvres les plus remarquables. Ces étonnants ensembles tirent leur force d’expression de la gravure qui constitue, selon lui, un véritable moyen d’expression moderne et l’authentique organe de l’imagination. www.musees.strasbourg.eu/collection-mamcs/-/entity/id/317815

Le niveau de sécurité de cette oeuvre d'art a été jugé "modéré" par le robot de Flickr, je l'ai rétabli comme "sur". Pour ce robot, les musées occidentaux devraient donc être interdits aux personnes qui refusent de voir le corps humain et aux enfants. Je m'interroge sur cette dérive récente de la plateforme !
