| Description |
This was the view when on the approach to runway 26 at Edinburgh Scotland. (A little high at that point due to ATC restrictions) Due to the movement of the Magnetic North Pole it's now runway 25. In the intervening years the terminal has been extended and additional taxiways constructed. The "old" original runway 31/13 can be seen to the left. It has now permanently closed. A third runway (long gone) was 08/26 which was short but as an Air Cadet, back about 1970 I flew in and out of it in de Haviland Canada Chipmunks. In those days it was still called Turnhouse airport / RAF Turnhouse. Apologies for the lack of detail. (The aircraft here was a Twin Otter - G-BGEN flying from Kirkwall in the Orkney Islands KOI-EDI) Nikkormat FTn, 50mm f2.0. |
