English: A fine website has, translated: Built by Hacı Adil Bey, one of the Governors of Edirne, in 1904, in memory of his son who died at a young age, the building, which is the best preserved fountain in the city center today, is placed on a plan base that can be reached by 3 steps. During the years when the fountain was built, a branch of the Karaağaç Train Station reached the beginning of the Meriç Bridge, called the Station Square, and next to the Hacı Adil Fountain. Although the fountain, which was built under the leadership and financial contributions of Hacı Adil Bey, is therefore known as the Hacı Adil Bey Fountain, it is also known as Meriç or Köprübaşı fountain among the public. Hacı Adil, who was governor of Edirne twice, was called "Hacıbaba" among the people. The grave of the martyr's son is in the Selimiye Mosque Cemetery. |
