English: Effigy of Welsh knight at Ruabon, John Ap Ellis Eyton (d. September 28 1526) and his wife Elizabeth, d.1526. Alabaster tomb chest with 2 recumbent effigies and angel weepers, vigorous and well-detailed.
John was the eldest of 4 sons of Elis Eyton of Rhiwabon and second wife Angharad daughter of Madog Puleston of Emral. He fought at the Battle of Bosworth in 1485 with Henry Tudor and was rewarded with large estates which later came into the possession of the Wynnstay family.
