Description
Français : Église Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul, dont la première pierre a été posée en 1584 par Antoine 1er Roi du Portugal a été terminée par l’architecte de Richelieu, Lemercier. En 1644, une grande cérémonie y a lieu en présence du jeune roi Louis XIV et d’Anne d’Autriche, reine régente, à l’occasion du renouvellement du traité d’alliance entre la France et l’Angleterre. Au moment de la Révolution, l’église a été saccagée. Un don de Napoléon en 1804 permet de faire quelques réparations et c’est Napoléon III qui la sauve de la destruction. Elle est célèbre grâce à la présence de deux tombeaux: celui de l’Impératrice Joséphine, morte à Malmaison le 29 mai 1814, et de la Reine Hortense.
