Description
English: Dismasted barque EILBEK with heavy list at Port of Sydney; EILBEK left Melbourne for Newcastle (NSW) on 19 May 1899, two days later she got in heavy weather that lasted until 23 May, due to load shifting the bark was in danger of capsizing, Captain Tadsen was forced to cut the masts and rigging to save the ship; EILBEK reached Sydney with some auxiliary sails and a partially restored rigging on 30 May 1899, the ship was towed to Newcastle for repairs and left Newcastle for Tocopilla/Chile on 20 February 1900.
